Coconut oil has many antibacterial and anti-fungal properties; so, what does that actually mean for you? It means a lot of different things! Whether you have eczema, dry patches on your skin or body, or if you’re a mom and you’re trying to keep your children away from germs, coconut oil is your new best friend!
For eczema, coconut oil is not a one stop, cure all, type of medication; but, it can help aid in relief when you have a flare up! Coconut oil is filled with antibacterial and anti fungal properties which can assist in relief for eczema in many different ways. It helps reduce the presence of bacteria which help eliminate the chance of infection caused by itching and scratching of the skin. It also helps in reducing inflammation and pain because of it’s high levels of lauric acid!
In order to use coconut oil for eczema you need to know a few things first. Make sure you are using all virgin coconut oil that has absolutely no chemicals in it, COCO & CO. is the way to go!
Our premium coconut oil will help with any flare ups and it is completely raw and cruelty free! Also, you want to make sure you continue with your normal medication and you’re not allergic to coconuts! Once you know all of that, all you need to do is apply our coconut oil to your skin when it’s slightly damp (after you wash your face) twice a day! You can use coconut oil when you have a flare up or even between outbreaks to keep your skin hydrated and reduce further outbreaks.
If you are having issues with itchy scalp as well, the properties in our coconut oil can help with that as well! Because of the lauric acid, coconut oil is very hydrating which helps reduce dryness on your scalp! This is one of the biggest reasons why people have issues with an itchy scalp. Also, as noted previously, coconut oil has antibacterial and anti fungal properties so it will help reduce any fungal infections in the hair follicles which can also lead to itching and scratching!
If used correctly, it can help preserve the scalps natural oils so that if you’re washing daily, it will act as a barrier to our healthy oils so that it doesn’t lead to excessive dryness. To use coconut oil as a scalp treatment, place 5 tablespoons of COCO & CO. Beauty coconut oil to a bowl and melt it. Once the oil is cool, massage it into the roots of your hair and scalp and comb through. Wrap in a shower cap or towel and allow the oil to soak in for 1-2 hours. Then rinse out with your preferred shampoo and conditioner!
Lastly, because of the antibacterial and immune boosting properties in coconut oil, you can also add it to your food or drinks (it’s great with coffee) to help boost your immune system so that you can avoid catching that awful flu!
Have you used our coconut oil for any of these reasons? We would love to know!
