As we welcome fall and winter, here are a few tips to keep your skin soft and hydrated!
Our skin tends to get dyer in the colder months because the humidity levels drop and when its colder outside, the water in your skin evaporates quicker which makes your skin feel tight and flakey.
Good news is, our coconut oil is great all year round and especially during these cooler months! So no matter where you are, bring your COCO & CO. Beauty coconut oil along to save yourself when a fall crisis occurs!
As mentioned before, COCO & CO. Beauty coconut oil is GREAT on it’s own. Apply it after a shower, when your skin is still damp, and allow it to soak in or, add it to your lips in the evening before bed to keep everything soft and hydrated! However, adding our coconut oil to a few other ingredients can boost it’s hydration levels and give your skin extra care when needed!
One way keep your skin hydrated from the winter months is to make a DIY shea body butter! You’ll need 1 cup of shea butter, 1/2 cup of COCO & CO. Beauty coconut oil, 1/4 cup of almond oil, 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin E oil, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil aroma! Combine all ingredients into a small saucepan to until everything is melted. Transfer mixed ingredients into another bowl and let cool for about an hour, or however long it takes to start solidifying around the edges. When you start to see it solidify, use a mixer to whip up your body butter! Whip it until it starts looking like whipped cream, then package and store! This is a heavier cream so it will be a tad bit greasier, allow it to soak in to the skin for a few minutes after applying!
Another way to save your skin during the colder months is to exfoliate all of the dry, flakey skin! Here’s a great coconut oil sugar scrub that’s easy to make AND easy to use! You can make as much as you wish but for step by step purposes, if you use 4 parts sugar and 1 part coconut oil, you will have the perfect ratio of sugar to coconut oil! You will need, COCO & CO. Beauty coconut oil, sugar, and any essential oil aroma you prefer (peppermint is great for the winter!). If you are making a small batch, take 4 tablespoons of sugar and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and mix into a bowl then add a few drops of essential oil. Then to use, apply to any dry area of your body (it’s great for feet too) and rinse off with warm water! These make great gifts as well, simply add the ingredients to a mason jar and wrap it up!
